visual studio 2015 - Can't deploy to raspberry pi, windows iot -

i can no longer deploy app windows iot debugging (raspberry pi 3) using visual studio 2015. yesterday ok, today error:

dep6956 : failed establish connection device due protocol incompatibility. please try again, , if error persists, please try restarting target device. device supports protocol 'sirep2'.

i've tried setting endpoint both ip address , device name. i'm using latest insider preview version of windows iot.

i can still connect device using app manager in browser, , using iot dashboard.

any idea causing this?

i've had issues if i've disconnected or restarted pi while visual studio has remained open. best practice i'd suggest starting or restarting visual studio after every pi restart. further clarify seems affect instance of visual studio connected device or involved in remote deployment. other instances of vs should fine.

this of course time consuming , shouldn't need happen avoids deployment errors mentioned above.
