i running ubuntu server 16.04 on google compute engine , want install unity 7.4 desktop on , connect google remote desktop.
it development machine (headless desktop), not standalone server needs minimal. work on go, used work remotely in cloud. there no problem hardware can increase ram, cpu or hdd needed.
after install ubuntu-desktop package not able connect ssh port 22 compute engine instance anymore , lost control , have recreate new instance.
there no headless google remote desktop installer, have install temporary vnc install chrome, configure chrome rdp headless service run on system startup, delete temporary vnc connection , after should able connect there anytime chrome client on go.
i have following questions:
- is unity able work vnc? have found tutorials xfce , similar lightweight desktops.
- is unity able work google rdp?
- what performance? there no 3d graphics card in google cloud
- i have lte on go, network should no problem.
- if impossible run unity remotely, lightweight desktop closest it? (i quite mac fan)
